In October 2024, I was introduced to Fundashon Ultimo Deseo Aruba for the first time when I was asked to create a mural for Emmy Theysen. At the time, Emmy was staying in hospice care and was terminally ill. He loved painting and, inspired by a nature photograph by Michiel Oversteegen, had created a painting of a prikichi perched on the fruit of a cactus. Emmy’s wish was for this painting to be transformed into a mural in Savaneta, the place where he grew up.

Because Emmy was no longer physically able to create the mural himself, I was asked if I would do it for him. Of course, I gladly agreed. Emmy Theysen was even able to add a few brushstrokes himself, and both of our names are now forever preserved on this wall at Colegio Sagrado Curazon.

Recently, I was asked to become an ambassador for FUDA and help bring greater awareness to this wonderful cause across Aruba, so that everyone, young and old, knows that FUDA exists. Within my possibilities, I will dedicate myself wholeheartedly to this mission.
